Obituary for Henry Ingram

INGRAM, Henry S., of Plymouth, MA, age 75, passed away October 19, 2009 at Boston Medical Center after a brief illness. He leaves his wife of 39 years, Judith M Ingram, his son John S. Ingram of Hanson and grandsons Seth W. and Nathan H. Ingram; his daughter Deborah A. Dimmitt of Clarksville, NH, her husband Peter Dimmitt and grandsons Andrew B. and Zachary W. Dimmitt and his daughter Elizabeth A. Bishop of Hopedale, MA, her husband Alan C. Bishop, grandson Alan S. and granddaughter Valerie S. Bishop.

Henry was the only child of William A. and Ruth (MacMillan) Ingram. Mr. Ingram was born and raised in Brockton and was a summer resident of Plymouth for many years before moving there in 1976. He graduated in 1956 from Boston University, where he played hockey and rowed crew. He was employed by John Hancock Mutual Life Insurance Co. for his entire business career, starting in the company’s Home Office retirement planning and marketing departments. He was the company’s General Agent in San Francisco, CA from 1968 to 1975 before returning to Boston to serve as Marketing Vice President until his retirement in 1998.

He was a member and past president of Plymouth Country Club and he and his wife were members of Plymouth Yacht Club. When he wasn’t on the golf course fine-tuning his handicap, he and Judy could be found aboard “Intuition,” dredging new channels in Plymouth Harbor and points south.

Arrangements will be by the Bartlett-Garrity funeral home, 338 Court Street, Plymouth. A celebration of his life is planned for Friday, November 6th at the Plymouth County Club from 4-6pm .
