Obituary for Shirley Ann Movsesian

Shirley A. (Briggs) Movsesian, 86, of Sandwich, MA—formerly of Lynnfield, MA—passed away on December 25, 2017.
She was born in Snoqualmie, WA, on February 16, 1931, to the late Georgina and Harvey Briggs. Shirley graduated from Auburn High School, and later worked at Boeing, where she met her husband, Edward N. Movsesian.
Shirley worked for Jordan Marsh and Sylvania Lighting, but her true “career” was in helping others. From acting as a caregiver to those in need of her kindness to volunteering for her children’s schools, the Girl Scouts, and any organization that needed a dedicated worker, Shirley was the first to step forward.
She will always be remembered for her quick wit, kind heart, and her love of children, pets, and the Boston Red Sox (but not always in that order).
Shirley will forever be lasting in the memories of her five children: Janis Urbanek of Canton, MA; Edward M. Movsesian of Kittery, ME; Sherry Granger of Sandwich, MA; Sue Publicover of Spring Hill, FL; and David Movsesian of Nashua, NH. Shirley leaves behind her sister, Lorraine Libadia, and four brothers: Richard Briggs, David Mendoza, Fred Mendoza, and Phillip Mendoza, all of Washington. She is also survived by her sons- and daughters-in-law—Mark Urbanek, Malcolm Granger, Melissa Graham, and Lori Movsesian. Shirley also leaves behind six grandchildren—Lauren Urbanek, Allison Urbanek Casciotti, Michael Granger, Cory Granger, Ryan Publicover, and Jason Movsesian—and her beloved great-granddaughter, Dahlia Lynn Casciotti. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Ed, who passed in 2009.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Shirley’s name to the COPD Foundation (3300 Ponce de Leon Blvd., Miami, FL 33134) or to a local animal shelter.
