Obituary for Etta B Goodstein (Goodstein)

Etta B Goodstein (Goodstein)
This is an unconventional obituary for a one of a kind woman. Etta. One word. One incredible person. One amazing life.
After a courageous 8 year battle with cancer Etta Goodstein, a renowned jeweler and gold smith in West Dennis, succumbed to the decease last week. Etta was a member of the Generation of Love and was in Washington, D.C. to protest the Vietnam War. Etta committed herself to the environment; she was Co-Founder of ‘Stop the Outfall Pipe’ where she was awarded an EPA New England Certificate of Appreciation in 1998.
Later on, Etta ran for Selectwoman for the Massachusetts House of Representatives and she was named “the Honorable” for having served in the electoral college in the 2000 Presidential election. Etta has been a key member of many aspects of Massachusetts, the Cape and Islands and even the National Democratic Committees. She served as the Democratic Town Chair and was the President of the Cape and Islands Democrat Council. In 2001 Etta was the Democrat of the year. She was a delegate to the Democratic National Convention for Al Gore in 2000 and Hillary Clinton in 2016.
Etta was a successful businesswoman on Cape Cod as an artistic jeweler with a passion for Australian opals. Jewelry by Etta was a mainstay on Route 28 in West Dennis. Austrialian.com named Etta an A Rated Jeweler.
Etta grew up in a family formed of many distinct individuals including Henry Bruce Gustafson, David Goodstein, Phyllis Gustafson, Bernie Goodstein; and G. Henry Gustafson. She is survived by siblings Judy Gessner, Debbie Gustafson, Carl Gustafson, Sam Goodstein and their families as well as many nieces and nephews.
Etta leaves many amazing friends around the world including her beloved Australia. Etta’s jewelry is wearable art an each piece was handmade and will live on forever as will her positive influence on the earth.
Donations in lieu of flower to Hope Hospice of Cape Cod in Etta’s name to 73 Service Road, East Sandwich, MA 02537.
