Obituary for Michael Moriarty

Michael Moriarty
BOURNE - Michael John Moriarty, 69, of Pocasset passed away on July 14, 2016 at the Pat Roche Hospice House in Hingham, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Albany, California, he spent much of his life in Newton and Mashpee.

Michael graduated from Newton High School (1964) and Lowell Technological Institute (1968), served in the United State Navy and worked for most of his career in the retail food industry for Star Market, Angelo’s and Shaw’s Supermarkets.

A skilled carpenter, Mike could fix anything and did just that for countless friends. He loved building things and working in the yard. He enjoyed the beach and boating and was the proud owner of many boats that he cruised the waters of Nantucket Sound on for over 20 years.

He was an amazing and loving father and his favorite thing was spending time with his two daughters, whom he loved beyond all else.

Mike was a compassionate pet lover, predeceased by many dogs who we know are now wagging their tales with glee over being reunited with him.

He was predeceased by his parents, Marion E. (Breen) and John J. Moriarty of Sandwich, MA

He leaves two daughters, Megan E. (Moriarty) Larkin, her husband Theodore and their daughter Claire of Norton and Joy L. Moriarty of Plymouth.

He is survived by one sister, Patricia Moriarty of Cotuit and 13 nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours are from 4:00-7:00 pm on Thursday July 21, 2016 at Bartlett Funeral Home located at 338 Court Street, Plymouth, MA. Burial is private. A memorial service in Mike’s memory will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Mike’s memory to Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital, Boston or the American Cancer Society.
