I first me Peter in 1974 or 1975, when thirteen. Enrolling ih his karate school taught many enduring lessons of surprising strength. Confidence grew from nurturing chi', an intense energy bestowing internsl force, which helped deliver not just more force to strikes: It flows within to foster balanced hope of seeking and sharing wisdom--so that forceful strikes are avoided.
Twenty-one years ago when rollerblading, a truck hit my head. So much blood gushed outwards that my body lregistered no pulse whent hte ambulence arrived. Five weeks in coma and a severe brain ininjury lost me not only my professorship teaching history at the University of Geogia--Athens but my childhood sweetheart. Divorced, disabled, and with beloved daughter Julia 600 miles away, activating memories ofPeter still lift me through exercizes where struggling out of my wheelchair, to stand, seeking to rebuild balance. and strerngth.. Though our dear friend Petre has died, his presence remains building better.
