The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Peter McRae can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

Peter's Life Lessons

I first me Peter in  1974 or 1975, when thirteen.  Enrolling ih his karate school taught many enduring lessons of surprising strength.  Confidence grew from nurturing chi', an intense energy bestowing internsl force, which helped deliver not just more force to strikes: It flows within to foster balanced hope of seeking and sharing wisdom--so that forceful strikes are avoided.

Twenty-one years ago when rollerblading, a truck hit my head.  So much blood gushed outwards that my body lregistered no pulse whent hte ambulence arrived.  Five weeks in coma and a severe brain ininjury lost me not only my professorship teaching history at the University of Geogia--Athens but my childhood sweetheart.  Divorced, disabled, and with beloved daughter Julia  600 miles away, activating memories ofPeter still lift me through exercizes where struggling out of  my wheelchair, to stand, seeking to rebuild balance. and strerngth..  Though our dear friend Petre has died, his presence remains building better.

                                         Blessings,

                                                            Jon Houghton
